X-mas in Berlin

It’s now officially that time of the year. So don’t hold yourself back. Splurge on Gluehwein, forget your gym pass for a moment and knock yourself out with a delicious Wurst or simply enjoy the chilly but unique atmosphere of one of over eighty Berlin Christmas markets. Every single one of them offers something special you won’t find anywhere else.

The closest one to Amstel and certainly the poshiest is the Weihnachstmarkt at Charlottenburg Castle. No other X-mas market in Berlin combines such a great variety of goods and gifts sprinkled with a touch of winter fairytale. You rarely find as many attractions happening in one place. Don’t miss a golden tents where artists and furniture designers present their best and most priceworthy pieces. For kids there is ferris wheel and a petting ZOO. If you’re looking for a family adventure this market surely ticks all the boxes.

If posh doesn’t cut it for you, stop by Potsdamer Platz. Refresh your frozen-off butts at Europe’s biggest toboggan run at the biggest semi in-door X-mas market.

The world taught you that grandmothers and Lonely Planet never lie. That is why you are going to find yourself at Gendarmenmarkt sooner than later. This Berlin Christmas market is by all accounts considered to be the top. It’s international and it’s made for movies. It’s a paradise made of handicrafts and high-end products. It stands out in every aspect. Prices included. Don’t let that 1 Euro entry fee fool you.

The biggest and the most spectacular Christmas market in the city awaits you in the eastern hood. Set between Alexanderplatz and Jannowitzbrücke, the Wintertraum raises the bar higher with every coming year. The good news is that this season there is more space for fooling around and an exclusive new attraction – the biggest air swing in the world. Before you set a foot on board, we do recommend a stomach consultation and a mental run-down of food  consumed. A lot can happen within those three seconds at speed 100 km/h.

For those who don’t follow the crowds and are always up for something a bit off the beaten track, Lucia Weihnachtsmarkt may be the right spot. Located in Kulturbrauerei, this market could not a home more perfect and romantic. In a historical surroundings of the 19th century beautifully ornamented builidngs, over 40 stalls provide for an unmatching experience. Latin for the one that brings light, Lucia makes the dream come trues, gives hope and lets the passion grow.

So, what are you waiting for? All Berlin X-mas markets are open now. Daily from 11:00 am. Bundle up and hit the road.
