January brings the expected International Green Week, known as one of Germany most famous events and Berlin’s oldest fair – happening annually since 1926. During it’s more than 80 years of history the fair – which started as a small and simple local commodity market – became world’s most important trade fair for food industry, agriculture and horticulture. More! It is the point of origin for the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture with more than 80 departmental ministers.
Producers from all over the world come to test market food and luxury items. Confirming consumer trends, regional sourcing plays an increasingly important role. Renewable resources, organic agricultural and products, Fair Trade, rural development and gardening continue to gain importance at International Green Week.
The official partner country of the year will be Estonia, which will present its diverse and local specialties, such typical things from the Baltic Sea, black rye bread, barley beer, cabbage and corn, potatoes and pork.
