2015 is a special year for the Amstel House. Exactly 10 years ago we started our journey. It seems like yesterday that our investors Bart and Peter got fascinated by a yellow house in the middle of Berlin during a bike ride. Amused by its façade in art nouveau style the two Hollander dreamed right way of turning it into a vivid and welcoming hostel. Soon after they met Alex, a Berliner full of will to make that happens. The Amstel House was born. Continue reading
I work at the Amstel House Hostel since October 2012. It’s been great working here. Currently, I study hotel and tourism management two days a week and the rest of the week I work at the Amstel House reception and back office. I also love to follow my passion: dancing, doing handicrafts or experiencing culture. I’ve been dancing my whole life and can’t see another way of relaxing. The great pleasure I get when I’m knitting, painting or building something with my own hands I just can’t express in words. However, my roommates (all three of them) seem to like all of my creative work since my craziness has taken over our whole apartment!!

Nonetheless, in the Italian kitchen the ruling thought is ’cuocere al fuoco lento’, which translates: the longer you let the sauce shimmer, the better the taste.
INGREDIENTS (serves 2)
1 Can diced tomatoes (400g)
250 gr. Cherry tomatoes
2 Big slices of stale bread Continue reading
