The legendary Forrest Gump, character of the eponymous American film, decided one day to start running and seemed not to be able to stop. Here in Berlin the rush was due by the redhead Lola in the film from which the name says it all: Run Lola Run.

From that hasty 90s to now – and as it happened to Gump – the sport has gained many followers. Running is more popular than ever, as shown by the growing number of participants in Marathons worldwide.

September 28th the host of this passionate crowd will be the German capital. The BMW 41. Berlin Marathon is expecting more than 40.000 runners and over a million spectators. Known for taking it easy with its participants, the flat geography of the city makes its route a nice start for beginners and the best chance for professionals to break records. No wonder Berlin’s Marathon is famous for being the fastest in the world. Besides it all it is a nice circuit that goes around main of city’s attraction, such as the Brandenburg Gate, Victory Column, Reichstag and T.V Tower, and does not miss our beloved neighborhood Moabit.

The athletes, however, are not the only ones to have tons of fun. Who comes to join the party from the side walks gets to cheer to the sound of more than 70 live bands and watch many of the dancing groups. It is definitely a party.

For the ones coming to join the event the Amstel House has a special offer. Don’t miss it!
