Meet the staff of the Amstel House as they share their travel tips with you. And their secret super powers. And their celebrity crush… This month, meet our super friendly and always chilled colleague, Andre!
I work at the Amstel house for 3 years now, but my enthusiasm for work hasn’t stopped yet. I mean, why should it? I live close enough to work that I don’t have to remember train hours, I either get to work with “Rucki” (more about him later on) or I take my bike. If I don’t work, I try to relax with yoga. I also love to get time outs of the city trouble, riding my bike or enjoying the peace and quiet in the nature.
I am also really interested in politics and history, in general: I want to know what is happening in the world.
What do you love about Berlin?
I love all these different types of people that are all coming together in one city to enjoy life.
What’s your favourite hot spot in Moabit and why?
The best bar around here is the Kallasch. Especially on those days, when I am going to be on stage, to read out my deepest thoughts and visions.
What do you like most about working at the Amstel House Hostel Berlin?
I just feel so myself wearing the work-uniform, that I can’t think about any other place to work in. Also after 3 years, there is still so many unexpected things happening….it is just never getting boring!
What’s the last place you travelled to?
Usedom, Baltic Sea. I LOVE THOSE BEACH CHAIRS!
Favourite quote?
Dein Anstand ist die beste und billigste Waffe gegen deine Feinde
Max Frisch
(Your good behaviour is the best weapon against your enemies)
What is your secret super power?
My friend “Rucki”. He might look like a normal backpack to you but he can beam us through Berlin at the speed of light.
If you could sing a song on The Voice of Germany, what would it be?
I guess I would try to beatbox Flatbeat from Mr.Oizo
Who is your celebrity crush?
Someday Kate Perry and Kristen Stewart will insist that it’s time that we move in together
What 3 items would you bring to a deserted island other than food?
A good book, a good look and a lot of hope
