One of the most interesting European dance festivals is about to be held in Berlin. Presented by renowned HAU – Hebbel am Ufer, the 28th edition of Tanz im August has as its main highlights the classic contemporaries, performances of a new generation of New Yorkers, as well as the latest work of many international and Berlin choreographers. A genuine celebration of contemporary dance, where creativity, collaboration and various forms of thinking choreography can be experimented and practiced.

The program will feature 65 presentations in eight different venues all around Berlin and will have the participation of over 150 artists from 14 countries. In total there will be 26 productions, including two world premieres, three European premieres and 11 German premieres. Abstractly or literally many of the performances will deal with our experience in a deeply troubled contemporary world, raising issues such as intimacy, community, experience of belonging and exclusion.

By the quality of what is to come and the solidity the festival is winning every year, it seems that Berlin is tracing its destiny as the center of dance in the world. And who would want to miss that?
