International Festival and Conference on Contemporary Character Design

This weekend is the 12^th Pictoplasma Berlin 2016 to bring – as every year – more color and forms to the Berlin Spring. This cool International Festival and Conference on Contemporary Character Design showcases the latest trends in fine urban arts, illustration, animation film and graphic design, focusing this year at the character’s overall posture and attitude, bringing up the question:  How does their appearance create personality and enable them to show character?

Turning Berlin into a meeting point for an international and varied scene of artists and creatives the festival offers a complete program, which consists of 15 galleries exhibitions, animation screening at Kino Babylon and further art happenings and performances. This year’s festival center will be the amazing heritage building Villa Elisabeth in Berlin-Mitte, where exhibition tours starts, many workshops take place, and where visitors get the chance to buy a selection of exclusive, limited and surprising art editions, books and gadgets.

The closing of the festival will take place in a fun party at Urban Spree, inviting everyone as they say to “truly get into character”.

All exhibitions are open Wednesday – Sunday, May 4-8, open daily 12-20h, entry is free of charge. See list of participating galleries below.

Animation Screenings will take place on May 5-7 at 20h. Tickets will be available directly at the box office for 8 €.
