Fans of computer games: Berlin has your perfect playground. With a huge German name, the Computerspielemuseum – in English Computer Games Museum – offers rare original exhibits, playable classics and a number of media installations that allow you to explore the world of the homo ludens digitalis, its culture and history. Known as the first institution to ever present a durable exhibition on the theme of digital entertainment, the museum has since 2011 the “Computer games. The evolution of a medium” as its permanent, besides many other special exhibitions in its unique program.
For the ones in town over the next days, do not miss the last days of Tastenbilder – Key Pictures, presenting the work of Peter Schönwandt, a creative from Frankfurt that designs “pixel images” using old individual computer keys. With and old school style, these keys – once silent tool witnesses of communication – are now used as raw material for the nostalgic expression of Schönwand. The motives of the pictures recall the time when computers were still analogue, comprehensible, and to the computer games looked the pixels from which they were composed.
