Kiss. From Rodin to Bob Dylan – An unmissable exhibition in Berlin this summer
KISS: we are passionate about it! We could never forget our first; and we surly melt remembering the best. A common scene in the theater, a cliché of the cinema, thousands and thousands of times photographed. Muse of sculptors, painters, designers. We just can’t get enough of it!
Strange but delightful it is not in vain that this very particular human behavior serves as great inspiration for art. And its representation goes beyond a romantic notion. If in remote times a public kiss could cause scandal; today its act is use also as political statement.
The exhibition „Kiss. From Rodin to Bob Dylan“ at the Bröhan-Museum in Berlin presents cross-genre and cross-kissing panorama of modern art from the end of the 19th century to the current days. The ambivalences and ambiguities of the act of kissing are exposed for immersion and dialogue in different artistic forms. Painting, graphics, sculpture, photography, film, video art, installations, performance: all around and about kissing. Through the work of artists such as Edvard Munch, Timm Ulrichs, Marina Abramović and Bob Dylan we are given the opportunity to reflect artistically about a gestor we are used only to feel.
