Wondering whether a visit to Berlin is worth breaking your winter hibernation? Yehes! Totally. Berlin possesses an irresistible appeal year round and is a popular winter destination like no other. So let’s get started and give you warm fuzzy feelings about the cold season ahead.  You’ll soon find out winter is one of the BEST times to visit Berlin.

HOLIDAY SEASON MAGIC
Experience the magic of the holiday season with twinkling lights, seasonal decorations and with a bit of luck; a city covered in snow. The Germans know how to celebrate  Christmas with their Christmas Markets. So get warmed up with a glass of glühwein and a curry wurst  while wandering and shopping at one of Berlin’s picturesque Christmas Markets (Weihnachtsmärkte)! Our favourite markets are the ones supporting local artists, but you can also go for the more kitsch ones around Alexanderplatz or the scenic ones near Charlottenburg.

COLD CHEAP!
Put those winter-phobic feelings aside. Smart bargain hunters and those travelling on a budget all visit Berlin between November and February! Cheaps are ridiculously cheap, you’ll get HUGE discounts on your stay as well as food and shopping. Especially November, January and February are at a fraction of the normal prices. Same museums, same clubs, same galleries, same bed, same restaurants. Only a lot cheaper to visit Berlin in winter!

FASHION
Berlin is a down to earth city but every six months a dash of fashion and style lands in Berlin in January and July with Fashion Week coming to town. International designers, fashion journalists and models come to share their latest collections and spice the town up. You can be part of it!

Whats a winter without some proper snow and ice fun? Eisstadium Neukölln is a favorite among locals. Its a nice skating rank without a roof so you get into the full winter mood. Check the happy hour as you half price.

The Berlin The Teufelsberg is a hill of 120 m and has the steepest slope in Berlin when covered in snow. It’s a stiff 15 minute climb but you are rewarded with a magnificent view and the fastest sled ride down in the whole of Berlin!
