A piece of New Orleans in the German capital. Yorckschlösschen: the best place for jazz and blues in Berlin.
Berlin is a city full of legendary locations, talked about not only here but all over the globe. One of these corners is the popular Yorckschlösschen. While the venue has been part of the Kreuzberg life for over a century, the Bar we know today has been shaking the nights of the neighborhood for the last 35 years, almost with no rest.
The charming atmosphere is alone an invitation. 120 seats surround a small wooden stage. Outside a joyful garden gets full every summer day. Famous musicians from New Orleans, New York and, why not, Berlin, show off their talents to an ever-lively audience. Every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evening, and also Sunday morning, there is live music. Blues and Boogie, Rhythm ‘n’ Blues and Jazz, Swing and Soul are the rhythms of the house
The owner and hostes of bar Olaf Dähmlow is there to be seen with the same hat and enthusiasm as 30 years ago, when he got the location. Before that he was already working at the place as cleaning power. His passion for blues and jazz made the venue what it is today.
Really yummy local beers can be found in a changing menu with central european specialties. Sundays between 11am and 3pm there is brunch. Better reserve a table if you want to be sure to get a place. At night it can get tight.
